Show of hands: How many of you saw THAT coming? Be honest. I’ll wait…
It is really nice to get a game like that after about a month of really close nail biters. I enjoy those as well, but sometimes, I just want to be able to relax at the end of a Titans’ game. Yesterday’s game was just what the doctor ordered.
Here are my main reactions to the game:
Derrick Henry owns the Jags
Is it okay to describe Derrick Henry running all over the field against Jacksonville as beautiful? I hope so. His long run of the day felt pre-ordained. You could feel it coming and when it did, all I could do was smile. Henry is in a groove right now and the coaches better keep feeding him the ball. The entire offense benefits when 22 is involved.
Ryan Tannehill = MOJO
Look, he wasn’t asked to do a lot yesterday. Most of his passing yards came on screens or in massive YAC, but that doesn’t take away anything from his performance. He has provided a huge spark to the offense – something that has coincided with the coaches finally understanding the skills their players have. The O-line is gelling – which every football person will tell you is natural for an O-line to take time to come together. The coaches are getting Henry involved early and often. They are also using bootlegs, roll outs, and designed QB runs more than ever before and it’s opened up the offense dramatically. I love all of it.
Tannehill is playing better than ever in his career and his confidence level in this offense is off the charts. I couldn’t be happier with his play.
AJ Brown
Has Brown ever been tackled by the first defender who makes contact? I don’t think so. His run after catch ability is as good as I have ever seen and as soon as he puts the rest of his game together, he will be a top 10 wide receiver in the NFL. He is going to be a lot of fun to watch over the next few years.
